The calendar has turned to September and there are suddenly plenty of questions looming for the Colorado Rockies.

Our podcast discusses Connor Joe’s injury and the Colorado Rockies pitching situation

With Connor Joe suffering a hamstring injury on Friday night in the midst of Colorado’s 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves, we’re waiting to hear exactly how much time Joe will miss. For the 29-year-old who has been a breath of fresh air and a boost to the Colorado lineup, it’s not a question of if he will miss time, but rather how much.

In our latest podcast, Noah Yingling and I discuss the potential impact of Joe’s injury on the lineup and the Colorado offense, especially with a nine-game road trip through the National League East coming up next week. Will Raimel Tapia slide back into his usual spot at the top of the batting order? We discuss that and more.

Additionally, the Rockies made some pitching additions as the rosters were expanded on September 1, then made some roster moves as the Braves came to town for a big four-game series. With Ashton Goudeau called up and Justin Lawrence sent back to Triple-A, what does that mean for the rotation? Could Goudeau and Antonio Santos be looked as long relief for the Rockies, and potentially as starters? Will Kyle Freeland miss a start on Labor Day with the left hip impingement that forced him to leave his start early in Texas? We look at the possibilities.

Finally, we tip our cap to Carlos Estévez, who has settled into his role as Colorado’s closer. He’s allowed just one earned run in his last 15 innings of work to lock down his place as the top option to finish out a Rockies win.
