With the All-Star Game now in the rearview mirror, a look ahead to the schedule shows that the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers will face each other six times before the end of July. According to reports, the Rockies, however, will not be facing Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer during any of those games.

According to Jeff Passan, an MLB insider for ESPN, Bauer’s administrative leave has been extended by nearly two weeks to July 27. Bauer, who was denied any wrongdoing, was placed on administrative leave on July 2 following sexual assault allegations. This will be the second administrative leave extension for Bauer as investigations continue.

Here’s what Trevor Bauer’s absence will mean for the Colorado Rockies against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With Bauer missing games through July 27, that means he will be unavailable to the Dodgers when they visit Denver for a three-game series that begins on Friday (July 16-18). He will also not be available when Colorado makes a visit to Dodger Stadium from July 23-25.

While the circumstances surrounding Bauer’s absence are serious and nothing to be trivialized, the Rockies will welcome an advantage over their National League West rivals. While Los Angeles (56-35) entered the All-Star break two games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West race at the break, Colorado is 18 games behind the Giants and trails the Dodgers by 16 games in the standings. The Rockies enter the unofficial second half of the season at 40-51 overall, including just 9-34 on the road.

In his first season with the Dodgers, Bauer has already earned two wins over the Rockies in 2021. On April 2, the right-hander allowed four runs on three hits and struck out 10 in a victory at Coors Field. Eleven days later, he struck out nine Rockies and only surrendered one hit in seven innings at Chavez Ravine.
