On this episode of the Rox Pile Rockies Report podcast, my co-expert, Kevin Henry, and I discuss the Trevor Story injury.

Since we recorded it on Saturday morning, the Rockies have placed Story on the 10-day injured list with “right arm inflammation.” Originally, he was day-to-day with “arm tightness.”

We discuss how we thought he would likely not be available this weekend (and that’s obviously correct now) but we discuss how it could hurt his trade value.

We have mentioned two different teams that he could be traded to before and one team that he shouldn’t be traded to) but we also discuss a few others.

More from Rox Pile

He was placed on the IL before the Rockies doubleheader with the Pittsburgh Pirates. We talk about the Rockies road woes and how the Rockies have had one season in which they were this bad (3-20) to start the season.

Also, the Rockies have shut out eight times this season, which, per the Rockies PR team, is tied for the most shutouts before June 1 in Rockies franchise history (their inaugural 1993 campaign being the other).

The Rockies are also in some bad company for being shutout on the road as you have to go back 45 years for the last team to be shutout eight times on the road before the start of June.

The Rockies also set a franchise record on Thursday as they have had eight straight road games where they have scored three or fewer runs with six or fewer hits, which is tied for the fourth-longest streak in MLB history. Two of the longer streaks were more than 110 years ago so the Rockies are not in good company.

However, the Rockies starting rotation has been excellent recently, including a 2.53 ERA in their last 16 starts, which is 4th-best in baseball.

Then, we wrap up with an update on two minor league pitchers, including Dugan Darnell, who was a guest on our podcast earlier this week, as he is receiving a promotion after pitching excellently in Fresno.
