Colorado Rockies: San Diego series start of tough division stretch
SAN DIEGO — Starting on Thursday night here at Petco Park, the Colorado Rockies have 25 games against National League West competition remaining this season. All but six of those are on the road.
Only series against Arizona (right after this series against the Padres, August 12-14) and San Diego (September 13-15) remain on the Colorado Rockies‘ NL West home schedule. Meanwhile, Colorado still plays seven games in San Diego, six in Los Angeles and three each in Arizona and San Francisco. Twelve of those division road games come in September, including all six at Dodger Stadium.
Overall, the road has not been kind to Colorado lately as the Rockies have lost 16 of their last 21 games away from Denver, including 12 of their last 15.

Since Bud Black took over as Colorado’s manager prior to the 2017 season, the Rockies are 106-98 against the National League West but only 46-49 on the road. Colorado has winning records in Arizona (14-11) and San Diego (14-8) while registering an 8-14 mark in Los Angeles and 10-16 record in San Francisco.
Since the start of this decade, Colorado is 340-384 against the division overall, including 152-212 on the road. San Diego is the only division foe where the Rockies have a winning road record since the start of the 2010 season, coming in at 44-43.
Part of that winning record in downtown San Diego comes from recent success. Colorado enters Thursday night’s game having won four in a row in San Diego for the sixth time in franchise history. However, the Rockies have won five in a row in San Diego just once (Sept. 12, 2000-April 19, 2001 at Qualcomm Stadium).
