The Colorado Rockies were dealt a series of injury blows on Tuesday and the news didn’t get much better on Wednesday afternoon in a matinee matchup against the San Francisco Giants.

Colorado Rockies outfielder David Dahl, fresh off his first All-Star Game appearance, left Wednesday’s game in the first inning after fouling a ball off his left foot. Facing San Francisco starter Shaun Anderson, Dahl, although in pain, stayed in the game after fouling off the pitch and eventually drew a walk. He was replaced in the top of the inning as Garrett Hampson took over in center field.

Dahl suffered a broken right foot last season when he fouled a ball off the top of it. He went on the injured list on June 1 and did not return to the Rockies until August 5. Memories of last season’s injuries immediately caused concern among Rockies fans. However, the team announced that Dahl was “day to day” with a left foot contusion.

Colorado has the day off on Thursday before starting a 10-game road trip where the Rockies will face the New York Yankees, Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds.

At the moment, it is unknown how much if any time Dahl might miss because of the injury. With the day off on Thursday, this is something we will be monitoring as the Rockies, fighting to keep up in the National League Wild Card chase, open a key three-game series in the Bronx against the Yankees.

On Tuesday, the Rockies announced that infielder Brendan Rodgers and reliever Seunghwan Oh were lost for the season after surgeries.

UPDATE (Friday 4:08 PM MT): David Dahl was originally in the starting lineup tonight but now, he has been scratched from the lineup. Garrett Hampson replaces him in left field.
