In the latest Rockie Road podcast, Rox Pile’s Jake Shapiro takes you through his projected budget for the Colorado Rockies, free agent targets and just about everything else you might have a question about as Major League Baseball starts the offseason.

There has been plenty of buzz around All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado and his contract, which expires after the 2019 season. “Shap” tells you what he thinks regarding how that situation will resolve itself and gives his opinion on why he thinks the Colorado Rockies should trade him. In that discussion, the perfect package for Arenado is detailed as well.

The Rockie Road Podcast went down to the details of which players the club will protect in the Rule Five Draft as well. No rock was left unturned (you get the pun, right?). In order to protect those players, the Rockies will likely need to designate a few players for assignment and those candidates were talked about as well.

In projecting the budget, there is a rough estimate of the Opening Day roster as well as the free agents most likely to be in some of the spots vacated by the Rockies’ six free agents.

Of course to have key targets, you need needs first and we made sure to review those as well. As Rockies fans are well aware, there were some glaring needs as the 2018 season concluded.

In addition, Shap talks about which rookies could make the Opening Day roster and who is due for a position change.
