It’s an off day, but there is plenty to catch up on regarding the Colorado Rockies. Our Jake Shapiro is ready to tackle all of the hottest rumors and interesting subjects in his latest podcast.
Shortly after the Colorado Rockies pitching staff (including the rejuvenated Jon Gray) held the defending World Champion Houston Astros to one hit on Wednesday night, Shapiro took to the airwaves to talk about the impressive performance. You can click here to listen to it.
A walk-off home run by Charlie Blackmon gave the Rockies a 3-2 win over the Astros and a split of the two-game series. Blackmon’s heroics are just the latest in a line of excellent play by the Rockies, who are 16-5 since San Francisco’s Brandon Crawford blasted a walk-off homer off Harrison Musgrave to give the Giants a 1-0 win on June 27.
Speaking of Chuck Nazty, his bomb off Astros reliever (and former Colorado pitcher) Collin McHugh atoned for a big mistake in the 10thinning of Tuesday night’s loss. Shapiro got some typical Blackmon quotes after the game on Wednesday, proving that the Rockies All-Star center fielder always keeps things in perspective.

While the Rockies were battling the Astros on Wednesday night, Colorado general manager Jeff Bridich was working the phone lines north of the border. As a result, the Rockies officially landed reliever Seunghwan Oh on Thursday morning in exchange for minor leaguers Chad Spanberger and Forrest Wall, plus a player to be named later. Shapiro broke down what Oh can bring to the Rockies in this article and talked more about it on the podcast.
Houston players also left an impression on Shapiro, including Alex Bregman, who was not pleased with an overturned call on what looked like a home run, then turned into a triple, then was ruled an out on fan interference (an Astros fan, no less). Shapiro talks about that, Jose Altuve impressions and more.
