Before today’s series opener with the Chicago Cubs, the Colorado Rockies announced that they are activating outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from the disabled list.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they activated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from the 10-day disabled list. He was on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain. The last game he played in was on April 18 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Thus far in the season, Gonzalez has played in 20 games. He has 3 home runs and 11 RBI with a .235/.264/.426 slash line and an OPS+ of 77.

In a corresponding move, the Rockies put second baseman DJ LeMahieu on the disabled list with right hamstring tightness, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.

He suffered the injury on Friday and has not played since so the move is retroactive to Friday, meaning that he could be activated from the disabled list as soon as next Tuesday.

He has had a great season for the Rockies thus far, as he has five home runs and 12 RBI in 27 games. He also has 31 hits, including eight doubles, and an offensive slash line of .290/.367/.505.

Final Thoughts

The Rockies need Gonzalez back in the worst way as their offense has really been struggling lately and more importantly, they need him to return to the Carlos Gonzalez that we saw in the last two months of the 2017 season and the whole 2016 season.

The Rockies only scored two runs against the Miami Marlins in their series this past weekend so, obviously, the Rockies offense could use some help.

Considering that most people thought that he wouldn’t be put on the disabled list, LeMahieu’s injury must be a little bit more severe than originally thought. However, I would still believe that he will be off once he is eligible to next week.
