The world is caught up in the release of “Avengers: Infinity War” at the moment. Superheroes battling together to save the world is always a good plot. However, those of us who have seen the movies and read the comic books know that working together hasn’t always been the strongest suit for the Avengers. They’ve needed something to bring their powers together and make them stronger as a unit rather than separate. The same could be said for the Colorado Rockies to start the 2018 season.

A stretch, you say? Hear me out on this one. With hitters like DJ LeMahieu, Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado in the lineup, we just know these guys are going to hit, right Rockies Twitter? However, that simply hasn’t been the case. There have been plenty of nights already where the top of the order has carried the weight while the bottom of the order has, shall we say, struggled mightily.

How do you solve the problem facing the Rockies lineup right now? You make it better. No secret there. The Rockies have taken a step toward that with the addition of David Dahl to the 25-man roster. Can he be the player who can be the bridge between All-Stars at the top and players who have yet to find their stride at the bottom?

Spoiler alert: In the first Avengers movie, the group was brought together after the death of Agent Coulson. It took something to link them together and allow them to use their powers together. The Rockies have been looking for that this season and maybe, perhaps, they’ve found it in Dahl, who hit triples on consecutive days at Coors Field to help Colorado win its first series of the year in Denver.

The only problem now facing the Rockies is where to play Dahl and how to fit him into the lineup. With Gerardo Parra now back from his suspension and Carlos Gonzalez soon to come off the disabled list, the Rockies outfield is more crowded than at any other time this season. It’s also crowded with left-handed bats. Where does Dahl fit into the plans and can he actually be the missing link that the Rockies have been looking for this season?

"“Sometimes our lineup relies (too much) on homers and the big innings, and I think his at-bats makes our lineup a little bit better,” Arenado told Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post in this article before the series began in Miami."
