According to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, Charlie Blackmon is scratched from tonight’s starting lineup against the San Diego Padres.

Just about an hour and a half prior to the start of tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reported that Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon was scratched from the starting lineup due to right quad tightness.

As a result, Rockies manager Bud Black inserted Mike Tauchman into Blackmon’s spot defensively.

Additionally, the lineup order is changed a bit with Blackmon being scratched.

With being scratched from the start tonight, it marks the second time that Blackmon was scratched from a start on the young season.

More from Colorado Rockies News

Last Sunday, against the Atlanta Braves, he was scratched from the starting lineup due to back tightness that was increasing throughout Saturday’s game against the Braves, that ended up going extra innings.

In 2018, he is hitting .282 with an on-base percentage of .391 and a slugging percentage of .641. In addition, he has four home runs, six runs batted in, two doubles, and an OPS+ of 185.

As you probably remember, less than a week ago, the Rockies announced that they had signed Blackmon to a six-year contract, that includes two player options that could very well keep Chuck Nazty in a Rockies uniform through the 2023 campaign. Reports have the figure of the contract being at $108 million (as our own Kevin Henry reported on here).

With the contract extension to Blackmon, as our very own Jake Shapiro noted in this article, it reveals a bit of  the plans that Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich and company have about the Rockies going forward.
