The magic that is Carlos Gonzalez returning to the Colorado Rockies has captured the attention of Rockies fans and this week’s podcast from the Rockies Subreddit group.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few days, you know that CarGo has returned to the Rockies on a one-year contract. Originally thought to not be part of Colorado’s plans for the 2018 season, the 32-year-old Gonzalez is back and will likely be patrolling right field for a big part of the upcoming season.

However, is that a good thing or not? This week’s podcast dives into the debate to see if Gonzalez will help the Rockies reach their second consecutive postseason appearance for the first time in franchise history.

As an aside, Rox Pile recently ran a Twitter poll and asked Rockies fans if they thought CarGo’s return would help Colorado win more games than the team would have won without him, about the same number of games with or without him or if Gonzalez would actually make the Rockies worse in the standings. In our poll that was answered by 116 fans, only 6 percent thought the Rockies were worse off with CarGo than they were before he was re-signed. Additionally, 55 percent believe Colorado will now win more games.

Maybe that reported $5 million will pay big dividends for the Rockies in 2018. We will soon see.

In this week’s podcast, Zach, John, Jason and guest Kyle chat about the pros and cons of the CarGo signing, splits and take questions from Rockies fans. You can click here to listen to this week’s podcast.
