Thanks to the All-Star Game break, the Colorado Rockies and the rest of Major League Baseball are enjoying a couple of days off on Wednesday and Thursday before resuming the regular season on Friday. The Rockies will open the second half of their season on the road against the New York Mets on Friday evening.

The Rockies enter the second half of the season 9.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and two games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West. At 52-39, the Rockies hold a 7.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals for the second National League Wild Card spot.

It’s going to be a race to the finish to see who qualifies for the postseason and how the bracket will shake out. While the Rockies take a breather today, it’s a good chance for you to catch up on five articles worth reading in preparation for the upcoming trade deadline and the rest of the season.

And don’t worry, each article link will open in a separate window so you won’t lose your place.

We take a look at some of the possibilities for every outfielder currently on Colorado’s 40-man roster.

The Rockies need some help on offense

Colorado has long been known for being fantastic on offense and lacking in pitching. In recent games, it’s been the exact offense.
