AA Hartford Yard Goats (8-12, Fifth in Eastern League – Eastern)

Hartford went 2-2 this past week, with two rain-outs. Three out of the four contests for Hartford this week were decided by one run, losing two of the affairs. Hartford’s pitching staff had a fantastic week as they yielded only eight runs in the four games.

Rising star Yency Almonte continues to impress. In his lone start, Almonte throw six innings, surrendering one earned on five hits and three walks. Almonte sits at 2-0 on the season with a sparkling 1.52 ERA.

Almonte’s gem wasn’t even the best of the week for Hartford. Jack Wynkoop steals the spotlight with his eight scoreless innings performance last Monday.

The Yard Goat offensive didn’t do much better than the opposition, mustering just 12 runs on the week. The good news is that top prospect Ryan McMahon continued to punish Double-A pitching. Ryan went 5-for-16 on the week with a dinger. Teammate Drew Weeks did his part as he cashed in a 5-for-15 week himself.

Transactions:

4/30/17 – Hartford Yard Goats placed LHP Austin Wright on the restricted list.
4/30/17 – C Elvin Soto assigned to Hartford Yard Goats from Grand Junction Rockies.
