Saturday Shout-Outs Around The Colorado Rockies Organization

Good things are happening throughout the Colorado Rockies’ organization — here are some shout-outs to players, coaches, and others doing something good for the Rox this week.

The Colorado Rockies played much better at home over the past week, and accordingly, some of the stats they are putting up are starting to compete across the league in a variety of categories.

Here’s what you need to know about good trends for the Colorado Rockies — and their minor league affiliates — over the past week, and across the season so far, as we highlight some of the players, events, and achievements worth a shout-out:

Nolan Arenado is fifth in the big leagues — and fourth in the National League — with 21 home runs. He’s also sixteenth in the majors in hits, and second in the majors in RBIs. Including play on Friday, Nolan had hit home runs in five straight games, as well.
Charlie Blackmon is third in the big leagues in stolen bases, with 20 steals in 26 attempts so far this season. He stole a career high 28 bases last season.
DJ LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki are tied for twelfth in the big leagues in batting average (.314, entering play Friday night) — Tulo is also 16th in the big leagues in doubles, and DJ is 19th in Major League Baseball in hits.
Matt McBride is hitting .359 in his last ten games in AAA Albuquerque, and overall hitting .336/.375/.569 in 232 at-bats for the Isotopes, with 10 home runs and 22 doubles on the season.
Rex Brothers has started to find himself at AAA Albuquerque, throwing 8.2 innings and allowing just two runs over his last ten games while striking out eleven hitters. He has walked nine (!) batters, but four of those were in one outing — where he didn’t record an out — so perhaps it was a bit of an outlier versus a season where he has slowly been improving his command with the hopes of rejoining the Colorado Rockies soon.
Yohan Flande allowed one run in six innings over his last start for Albuquerque on Thursday, a win at El Paso.
Even though they’ve cooled down from their hot start, the New Britain Rock Cats are still tied for the Eastern Division lead in the Eastern League, with a 40-34 record entering play on Saturday.
Carlos Estevez, who we profiled several weeks ago in Modesto, was called up to New Britain and has struck out 14 hitters in 13.1 innings in his first experience at the AA level.
Trevor Story (AA New Britain) and Raimel Tapia (A+ Modesto) will be participating at the All Star Game Futures Game in July.
First-round draft pick Brendan Rodgers was 4-for-6 with a home run and three runs scored in his professional debut for the Grand Junction Rockies on Thursday.
