As the Colorado Rockies finish their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, here are some things to follow around the Rox, and baseball, as the weekend nears.

As the Colorado Rockies wrap up their time with the Arizona Diamondbacks, it’s time again for us to look around baseball and see some stuff that’s going on outside the walled garden that is Rox Pile. As much as we love your page views, comments, and tweets, baseball content exists outside of here. Not good baseball content, but, hey.

Anyways, here are some things about the Rockies — and some things not about the Rockies — that have taken place over the last few days that you should probably know about, and hence, our links post exists:

Arenado reinforcing his status as an elite player (MLB.com).
With two more home runs in Tuesday night’s game, and quite literally coming up with a web gem every single night, it seems, Nolan Arenado has certainly grown into his own in Denver. At what point do the Rockies decide to sign him to an extension and lock him up for the foreseeable future?

Nolan Arenado keeps playing superb baseball, even if nobody notices (Outside Pitch).
Hey! We’ve noticed! Come on, man! But nobody kinda is true — not many people outside of Denver have noticed, and I can tell because everybody who asks me about the Rockies is always like, “hey, Arenado? He’s pretty good, right? Where did he come from? Is he legit?” And I’m all, “yes he’s legit! Watch him play for nine freakin’ innings, you guys! He’s so legit!”

For Mo’ne, birthday part of unforgettable trip (MLB.com).
Mo’ne Davis, also legit. Arguably more legit than Arenado (I want to see Arenado on the mound, so until then, it’s Davis’ victory, am I right?). The MLB focusing on and promoting youth baseball initiatives around this country is literally always a good thing, and if somebody like Mo’ne Davis can help do that — with a really cool angle that you should read about in that specific story — then all the better.

Meet Rex & Lex: the two sides of Dexter Fowler (JABO).
Ohhhhh, Dex. Rockies fans could’ve told all of you people all of this about switch-hitting Dexter Fowler a few years ago. Sad to see the disparity exists, but it was a fact of life in Denver and it appears it’s a face of life still in Chicago. Nevertheless, seriously, wish the guy the best, but damn, man. Pick (the right) side.

The potential highest home run on record (FanGraphs).
This is a cool and technical post that doesn’t have much to do with the Rockies (except Corey Dickerson’s name comes up as one of the highest home runs hit in recent tracking memory!), but if you’ve ever found yourself wondering just how high the highest home run ever hit was… click that link.

Female French teen makes history (MLB.com).
This is very, very important for about 950 reasons and it’s something I’m going to write about to post up when the Rockies get their next off day, but in the meantime, read this about French teen Melissa Mayeux. Also, she has a nice swing, man.

Ok, y’all. Six Bay Area games start Friday. Yayyyyyyy.
