The Colorado Rockies don’t play today, so let’s take a trip around the league and see what else is happening in baseball.

I think I’m going to go down to the Saturday evening game in San Diego when the Colorado Rockies take on the hometown Padres. I’ve never been to Petco Park, but it looks absolutely gorgeous on camera, and, come on, San Diego. It’s probably not awful.
And more importantly, it’s May tomorrow. Already? STOP THE RIDE, I WANT TO GET OFF.
Anyways, here’s what’s going on around the league this week as the Rockies enjoy an off day today before facing the Padres Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (and yes, series preview coming tomorrow morning!).
Bradley in good spirits, DL-bound after scare (MLB.com).
That’s probably a good idea for Arizona Diamondbacks starter Archie Bradley after taking Carlos Gonzalez’s line drive off his face. At least it doesn’t appear there’s more serious damage or something that would conceivably affect him after his playing days. Quotes from CarGo in that article, too; he took it really hard, though of course, he’s not to blame.
MLB game without crowd also without precedent (MLB.com).
Yeah, that was a weird one in Baltimore Wednesday afternoon with the Orioles and White Sox in front of… two ball girls and two scouts. The White Sox didn’t really show up early, anyways, after allowing six runs in the first inning, but I can imagine it’d be tough to get up for a game with absolutely no energy in the stadium (let alone what’s happening around the rest of Baltimore).
Major League Baseball makes wrong call in Baltimore (USA TODAY).
As fun and weird as a fan-less stadium was Wednesday afternoon, here’s the flip side to the decision to even have the Orioles and White Sox play in the first place (especially after the first two games of the series were already canceled).
Colorado Rockies have losing psyche (Denver Post).
Guess who. Not gonna comment on this mindless garbage (whoops! There’s a comment!). We’ll leave it up to you to decide how to feel about this vapid – and yet, so scalding – hot take (whoops, another comment!).
Are the Astros for real? (SportsNetwork.com).
Not particularly related to the Rockies (but neither was that Orioles-White Sox game), but the Astros look… pretty good. Can they hold on to it? They are kind of a fun team to watch and Jose Altuve is a damn good baseball player.
Racing mascots nearly trample Cubs players (FanSided).
ENOUGH WITH THE DUMB MASCOT RACES. STOP WITH THE BETWEEN-INNING DIVERSIONS. THIS IS WHY THE FANS ARE AWFUL AND NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO THE GAME, BECAUSE YOU’VE CONDITIONED THEM TO ACCEPT STUPID DIVERSIONS AND LAUGH AT TOOTH TROTS AND KISS CAMS AND THE WAVE. (I’m not wrong about this, the casual baseball fan is whack.)
