Rejoice!

It’s officially official because the Rockies have announced their Opening Day lineup.

Let’s review:

1 – Charlie Blackmon (CF)

2 – Carlos Gonzalez (RF)

3 – Troy Tuowitzki (SS)

4 – Justin Morneau (1B)

5 – Nolan Arenado (3B)

6 – Corey Dickerson (LF)

7 – Nick Hundley (C)

8 – D.J. LeMahieu (2B)

9 – Kyle Kendrick (P)

Dear baseball gods – can the club keep that lineup for the vast, vast majority of the season?

With those starting eight, the Rox have a chance at the plate and in the field.

Pitching? Well… we can only ask the baseball gods for so much at once, I guess.

The biggest news in this lineup is CarGo hitting second.

Walt Weiss has said he wants to toy with CarGo and Tulo in the two-spot to get more at-bats and, in turn, potentially hit the pitcher in the eighth spot at some point this year.

He did it in the spring, but obviously, Kendrick is batting ninth Monday afternoon.

We’ll see how CarGo fares in the second spot, but if he can get on base ahead of Tulo and Morneau, those two could put up some special numbers this season in the meat of the Rockies order along with Arenado and Dickerson.

Go to sleep right now. It’ll be Opening Day when you wake up.
