You remember Boone Logan, don’t you?

More from Colorado Rockies News

Sure, your last memories of him on the mound for the Colorado Rockies might not exactly be positive, but considering the fact that Rob Scahill was the first man out of the bullpen on Monday night, are you going to complain about Logan returning? Of course not. This man will be welcomed with open arms.

According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, Logan has made enough progress that he could re-join the Rockies when they head home to face the Los Angeles Dodgers to start a home stand this weekend:

"The Rockies also are looking for lefty reliever Boone Logan, who has made two rehab appearances in his comeback from left elbow inflammation, to thrown on back-to-back days before returning, so he could return at the start of the homestand."

For all of the talk about the rehab progress of guys like Michael Cuddyer and Carlos Gonzalez and starting pitchers like Brett Anderson, Tyler Chatwood, and even Eddie Butler, the return of Logan has flown under the radar. That is somewhat surprising considering the fact that Logan was the big signing this off-season (three years, $16.5 million) and returns to a really, truly atrocious bullpen.

It is unclear whether or not the elbow inflammation that sent Logan to the shelf had anything to do with his struggles in his last few appearances. With a bad overall ERA at 5.87 and a bad FIP to match at 4.80, one might reasonably assume that Logan has in fact been bad all season. That’s not necessarily so, however. He posted a 2.89 ERA in 11 games in April, only to have that balloon up to double digits in May at an 11.57 ERA in eight games.

Depending on which version of Logan returns, this could be a huge boost for the Rockies at the end of what has been a relatively quiet rehab process.
