Colorado Rockies honor veterans on Memorial Day

All around baseball on Monday you will find camouflage uniforms and hats, American flags, and other gestures to honor the men and women who have served our country, especially those who have given their lives, on this Memorial Day.

The Colorado Rockies are doing their part with camouflage lettering and numbers on their purple jerseys (it is still Purple Monday, after all!) and of course their version of the camouflage hats worn by every big league team. Here is a sampling of photos and thoughts from the Rockies on social media.

The Rockies will continue their tough road trip on Monday with the first game of a series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Jhoulys Chacin will start for the Rockies opposite Kyle Kendrick for the Phillies.

It is a special day of baseball as teams around the league put together various presentations and tributes. On a weekend where people find a number of ways to get together to honor those who have served our country, baseball does it as well as anybody.

That will surely be the case at Citizens Bank Park as well. That will be great to see, and then hopefully the Rockies can follow that up with a key victory on the road. The Phillies are coming off a game where they were no-hit by Josh Beckett, so they will obviously be looking to rebound against the Rockies.

Happy Memorial Day!
