The Colorado Rockies never got anything going on offense against Jacob deGrom, and the New York Mets won Wednesday night’s game 3-0 despite a strong starting performance by Rox pitcher Jorge De La Rosa.
The Rockies were never in play on offense, as they were only able to eke out three hits the entire game in addition to four walks, and they never seriously threatened deGrom and the Mets in the listless loss.
The one bright spot for the Rockies was De La Rosa, who did what De la Rosa typically does: he threw six innings, allowing just four hits and two walks against seven strikeouts, but giving up two runs proved to be far too much for the Rockies’ offense to overcome in the loss.
Christian Bergman threw the final two innings in relief, allowing a run on the first Mets home run by recent trade acquisition Yoenis Cespedes.
deGrom allowed two hits and four walks in his seven innings of work, while striking out ten Colorado Rockies.
With the loss, the Rockies have now been held scoreless in 23 consecutive innings, and considering Noah Syndergaard pitches the Thursday afternoon game for the Mets against the Rox on getaway day… that scoreless streak may very well continue.
Eddie Butler will face off against Syndergaard in that affair, which begins at 10:10 am MT on Thursday morning, the Rockies’ final road game before coming home for a ten-game stand at Coors Field starting Friday night with the San Diego Padres coming into town.
