The Colorado Rockies mercifully wrapped up another road trip, which means they’re one week on the road closer to mercifully being done with another season of disappointing baseball.
Whoa, sorry, am I supposed to be that negative about the ball club? But come on… they suck! It’s hard to get excited about August wins when your club sucks. And when your general manager goes, like, maybe halfway on a rebuild (but doesn’t trade Carlos Gonzalez? Who the hell doesn’t trade Carlos Gonzalez?)
Anyways, we’ve got a few links for you guys here, so get to it, enjoy it, and maybe let’s have a nice three-game homestand before the Rox go out on another brutal road trip that starts this coming weekend.
Purple Dino Podcast #54: Welp, that was a letdown… (PDP/Purple Row).
Yeah, you’re telling me. Tyler and Anthony at PDP discuss the trade deadline, and how our boys fizzled a bit (understatement of the year!) after starting so strong a few days before the deadline went down. Trade Tulo, do absolutely nothing else, and… what? Who? Where am I? What’s this big purple dinosaur doing here?
Bridich: Deadline doesn’t mean trading season is over for the Rockies (Denver Post).
Sure, Jeff. Whatever you say.
Rockies install clear biometric technology at Coors Field (Biometric Update).
A heads up for people who might be going to the Mariners games beginning tonight. Also, there’s a website called Biometric Update. I guess you learn something every day.
Weiss says Rockies are too talented to be in ‘rebuild’ mode (ESPN).
Walt, I know you have to say that because you want to keep your job (and a rebuild would fire you, I’d imagine), but let’s be real. The Rockies have some really talented position players — and they do a great job developing position guys throughout the minor leagues — but they don’t have pitching, they’ve never had pitching (well, a few years as exceptions), and the rebuild needs to come. Soon.
