The Colorado Rockies begin a Midwestern road trip tonight against the Chicago Cubs. Let’s look around the Rockies for some baseball news.

The Colorado Rockies are off on another tough road trip, this time to Chicago and St. Louis to face two teams that are virtually guaranteed to be right in the thick of the playoff race come September 15. So… this should be fun!

In the meantime, before the Rockies start up tonight against Chicago at Wrigley Field, let’s get you caught up on some Rockies links from around the league and the web… with a little bit of a trade deadline feel to them, too!

Mets still have their eye on some big time acquisitions (FOX Sports).
Read that fifth sentence. READ THAT FIFTH SENTENCE. Looks like the Rockies and Tulo may dodge one trade bullet (but hey, with all due respect to the Mets, I don’t think they have any idea what they hell they’re doing and they’re accidentally in a playoff race entirely thanks to some really exciting young pitchers).

Hundley carrying his weight and then some during frustrating season (Purple Row).
This is very true and saves me the time in writing my own editorial about this. Hundley has been nails behind the plate and beside it, and in an alternate universe where he played slightly better — or Yasmani Grandal wasn’t having a career year — he might might might have made an All Star team.

Rockies commemorate Eddie Butler’s fall with a chalk outline (SB Nation).
This is pretty damn funny. Poor Eddie — he is never going to live down the end of it. Of course, that’s because the Rockies won that game on the walk-off wild pitch; had they lost it, the story wouldn’t have been quite as funny.

Might as well bookmark this page now for the next few days. If you haven’t been familiar with MLBTR in your past, either, that’s a site you should probably start to live on if you’re into baseball, roster moves, contracts, etc., etc.
