The Colorado Rockies are coming home! After four days off, and two bad games in San Diego, the club returns to Denver where they will first face the Texas Rangers for a series before going back to more National League teams.
Considering Sunday’s game in San Diego was postponed due to rain (yes… you read that right…), let’s get you caught up on some important Rockies news you need to know, y’all:
Bettis placed on DL with elbow inflammation (Rockies.com).
Yeah, so, this is a thing. After tossing six innings on Saturday night, Chad Bettis is going on the 15-day DL, and it looks like the Rockies might be cautious with him. He’s had some bad outings this year, but all in all, he’s throwing the ball pretty well (and much, much better than I thought he was going to throw), so let’s hope this isn’t the worst-case scenario.
Also also also — does this pave the way for Jon Gray to come up? The Rockies cane use a four-man rotation for the next eight or nine days considering some off days they have loaded up in the schedule here, so maybe they don’t need him yet, but… soon-ish?
Rockies game in San Diego postponed due to rain (Rockies.com).
What the hell is this? No, really — what the hell is this? I didn’t even know it rained in San Diego? But there’s like a hurricane in Baja California or something, so… look, I don’t know. All I know is the Rockies ended up getting a day off after Eddie Butler threw three halfway decent innings and then the sky blew up.
Rusin gets nod in interleague opener (Rockies.com).
Chris Rusin is going to get the start Monday night in Denver (we’ll have more soon in a series preview). That’s good!
Franchise Four announced for Rockies (Rockies.com).
Eh, I guess this is news. We wrote up some pieces on this way back when in April when it first came out. So hey, good for the big four: Andres Galarraga, Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki, Larry Walker! (And you can check out every other teams’ Franchise Four there, too.)
