Should watching a team like the Kansas City Royals in the World Series be reason for hope for the Colorado Rockies? Does daydreaming about the Rockies playing meaningful games this time of year help or make things worse? Oftentimes, we are just left to mark the anniversary of the 2007 ‘Rocktober’ run yet again as the calendar flips to November and the off-season.

It is fun and sad all at the same time.

That is where we start with the Rockies’ links on this Friday morning.

From Nicki Jhabvala: Throwback Thursday: Rockies in the 2007 World Series (Denver Post):

"Colorado entered the series having won 21 of its last 22 games, including sweeps of the Phillies in the NLDS and the Diamondbacks in the NLCS. Boston knocked off the Angels and Indians to make it to the Series and, because the American League won the 2007 All-Star Game, the Red Sox were granted home-field advantage.Boston handedly won Game 1, 13-1, thanks in large part to Josh Beckett, who struck out nine batters. It then took Game 2, 2-1, despite Matt Holliday’s four hits and Todd Helton’s early groundout for a score."

From Eric Garcia McKinley: Third Base Superstar (Rockies Zingers):

"Defense usually declines, and we should expect Arenado’s to decline until he demonstrates otherwise. But we should also expect his offense to improve. It would be foolish to dream a Hall of Fame career for Arenado right now, but it’s hard to ignore the types of players that have produced similar numbers at similar ages."

From Jordan Freemyer: Rockies 2014 minor league review: Tulsa pitching staff anchored by top prospects (Purple Row):

"In their final season as a Rockies affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers played host to some of the organization’s most well-thought of young arms. First-round picks Jon Gray, Eddie Butler and Tyler Anderson were joined in the Tulsa rotation by righty Daniel Winkler, and all four were among the top 13 on the most recent PuRPs list."
