That roster includes Jhoulys Chacín, who went from throwing long toss in front of the Rockies coaching staff on Wednesday to becoming part of the roster officially on Thursday morning, just hours before the Rockies take the field. The 33-year-old right-hander last pitched for the Rockies during the 2014 campaign, capping a six-year run with the franchise. In his time with the Rockies, he has a 38-48 record and 3.78 ERA.
To make room for Chacín on the 40-man roster, the Rockies have designated relief pitcher Jairo Diaz for assignment. We talked about the recent struggles for Diaz and predicted he might lose his roster spot in this article.
