After five days watching the Colorado Rockies in spring training action, it’s time to talk about some of the things we saw and make a few predictions.

While sitting in the press box at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Ariz., I had a chance to chat with Thomas Harding of MLB.com, who has covered the Rockies since 2000, and has been in his current position with MLB.com since 2002. Harding has been at the majority of 2021’s spring training activities, so I wanted to pick his brain on what he has seen and heard from the Rockies so far this spring.

In this podcast, we talk about the Colorado Rockies roster construction and prospects.

More from Rox Pile

One of the things we discussed in this episode of the Rox Pile Rockies Report is what the Opening Day roster could look like for the Rockies. Harding and I dive deep into this article where he makes his roster predictions, including the fact that the Rockies could carry three first basemen into the 2021 opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field. Who does that leave out? Harding and I dive into the possibilities.

Check out our thoughts on the Opening Day roster here. Obviously, they differ a bit from Harding’s predictions.

Harding and I also talk about Jameson Hannah, Helcris Olivarez, Ryan Vilade, Colton Welker, and some of the other members of the “next generation” of the Rockies. Who else might be turning some heads and climbing up the prospect ladder based on spring training action?

There are plenty of things to talk about in this episode, including fan attitude heading into the season and what can really be expected of the Rockies in 2021.

We are excited to have the Rox Pile Rockies Report back and we hope you give our talk with Harding a listen below.

Next. Trevor Story on his future, Nolan Arenado, and more. dark

We will be having regular episodes of the podcast available, with plenty of talk about the current state of the franchise and where things might be heading as well. Make sure you’re subscribed to us, and thanks in advance for listening!
