Now that we are officially past the longest night of the year, let’s take a look ahead to spring training for the Colorado Rockies.
One thing is for sure … this year’s Colorado Rockies spring training schedule will have some wrinkles that the team has never seen in its existence. It also gives Rockies fans in many different locations a chance to see their favorite team in action.
This year’s Rockies spring training squad will see action throughout Arizona as well as Monterrey, Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M., and Fort Myers, Fla. This will make Colorado’s fourth appearance in Mexico as part of Major League Baseball’s efforts to expand its fan base south of the border. A game in Albuquerque will come against the Triple-A Isotopes on Monday, March 25, before the Rockies jet off to Florida to meet the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers on the 26th in their final spring training game of 2019.
Colorado will open the regular season on Thursday, March 28, at Miami.
Playing their home games at Salt River Fields (and also sharing that “home field” and its facilities with the Arizona Diamondbacks), the Rockies will open their spring training schedule on Saturday, February 23, in a “road game” against the D-backs at Salt River. That is followed by their first home game of the spring training schedule on Sunday, February 24, against the Seattle Mariners.
