Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon came up clutch on one of the biggest days in franchise history.

In forcing of a tiebreaker game for the division title against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday afternoon (where the Colorado Rockies will seek their first-ever National League West crown), Blackmon hit for the cycle.

Tripling to leadoff the game, homering in the third, singling in the fifth and doubling in the eighth, Blackmon accomplished the feat for the ninth time in Rockies history and the 323rd cycle in Major League Baseball history (it was the 281st cycle since 1901).

The last time a Rockie hit for the cycle was Nolan Arenado on June 18, 2017 when he walked off the San Francisco Giants to finish the feat and provide one of the most memorable endings in Rockies history.

Blackmon nearly hit for the cycle last season in May, but put on the breaks between first and second late in the ball game.

Blackmon did have an MVP-like 2017 and has followed it up with a steady 2018 of .289/.356/.501 with 29 home runs, 70 RBI and 119 runs scored.

Remaining one of the premier leadoff hitters in baseball, Blackmon signed a six-year, $108-million extension earlier this season.

Blackmon had his best month in September, batting over .330 with six long balls. His September was one of the steadiest among all players in the National League.

Blackmon combined with David Dahl in left, who has hit homers in five of the last six ball games, has made quite a power duo in the Colorado outfield to match the sparkling one on the left side on the infield with Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado. Arenado took over the National League lead for homers today as his multi-homer game topped him at 37.

Who had the better pitching season: Ubaldo Jimenez or Kyle Freeland?. dark. Next

The Rockies have a game 163 on Monday at 2:09 p.m. Mountain time to decide the National League West. It will be televised on ESPN.
