Before the start of their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks that kicks off Tuesday night, the Colorado Rockies have made a roster move.

After an off day on Monday, the Rockies head into what could be the most important series of the season to this point but before they start the series, the Colorado Rockies made a roster move.

They will reinstate catcher Tom Murphy from the paternity list. In a corresponding move, they will option first baseman/outfielder Jordan Patterson back to Triple-A Albuquerque.

In 15 games with the Rockies in 2018, Murphy is 15-for-48 with six doubles and seven runs batted in. He is also hitting .313/.327/.438 with an OPS+ of 92.

Before being recalled from Albuquerque, he played in 49 games for them with a .289/.359/.642 with 34 runs and 54 hits, including 14 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs, and 45 runs batted in

Patterson did not see any action in his brief stint with the Rockies as he was just recalled on Saturday when Murphy was placed on the paternity list. In Triple-A Albuquerque this season, Patterson is hitting .265/.373/.549 in 73 games with the Isotopes. He also has 68 hits, including 14 doubles, a triple, 19 home runs, 52 RBI, and 49 runs.

He rejoins an Isotopes team that is currently in their All-Star break. They had yesterday and today off before their All-Star game in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday evening. They will pick their schedule back up on Thursday night in Las Vegas against the 51s (the New York Mets Triple-A affiliate), who is in last place in the Pacific Coast League’s Southern Division.

The Isotopes have lost three in a row, which has dropped them to below .500 at 44-45. They are in third place, 5.5 games back of the El Paso Chiahuahuas, the San Diego Padres Triple-A affliate, for the division lead.
