The Rockpile Talkpile gang is back again with episode 17. This episode features the series against the Miami Marlins and the offense of the Colorado Rockies.

In this episode, the whole gang from the Colorado Rockies Subreddit is back with a guest host/editor Jack. They immediately dive into the Marlins series and emotions are high. They go on to mention how the Marlins are far from a top team. The only game the Rockies won during that series was the first one with a score of 1-0, which still wasn’t a good showing since the RBI went to a relief pitcher. They crew finds it’s extremely ridiculous.

They then move on to talking about how they don’t really have faith in the team if your name isn’t Nolan Arenado or Charlie Blackmon. Essentially this does back up their rant about Pat Valaika being the worst batter in baseball. This is easily supported by looking at his stats and WAR. They even go so far to talk about how the Rockies have left runners on base too many times this season.

Later in the podcast, they continue talking players, but this time go into the first basemen situation. Thus speaking about Ian Desmond and Ryan McMahon as neither have done well so far, but McMahon was sent back to Triple-A. They get into some very advanced stats with their hitting. According to the podcast, the Rockies really never found someone to fill Todd Helton‘s shoes.

After their “water break,” they hilariously mention how it’s good to be optimistic about the Rockies … however it’s been hard to be. They start a deep dive into how the Rockies are somewhat the worst offensive team in the National League, but the Padres do come up. This leads to discussion on San Diego’s front office moves and ownership.

Towards the end of the podcast, they talk about the un-televised games and how the Colorado Rockies pitching had a strong start. This transitions to how most Rockies fans couldn’t see the away games due to AT&T SportsNet deciding to not give customers access to them, thus leading to fans not being able to see solid starts from the Rockies.
