The Rockpile podcast from the Colorado Rockies Subreddit is back once again with episode 15. The guys discuss the road trip, roster changes, and the series against the Chicago Cubs.

All the guys are back along with guest host Ben in this week’s episode. They immediately dive into the Colorado Rockies recent road trip. They start off by noting how the weather may have been bad but the Rockies brought the heat upon the Nationals and Pirates. The team also did fairly well without All-Star Nolan Arenado, which may have taken a few of them by surprise.

They then move on to talk about how Colorado’s neighbors in the division, the Los Angeles Dodgers, haven’t been so hot lately due to most of their star players underperforming as of late. Speaking of other teams, they dive into the rest of the National League talking about the contenders and pretenders of this season.

More from Rox Pile

The weather has shown little to no improvement as of late. Because of that, there have been many delays. It’s even affected some of the Rockies’ home games. The Rockpile mention how Bud Black told German Marquez to wear sleeves before pitching in one game. They then joke about their home state of Nebraska and how it’s always like an endless blizzard.

They move on to talk about how the Colorado Rockies are doing fairly well on the road offensively. All of Charlie Blackmon‘s and DJ LeMahieu‘s home runs were hit on the road. The team does appear to do better offensively during road games than they have at home so far. They note that LeMahieu’s hard hit ball rate is up, which is a very good thing as he’s surprised many with the amount of home runs he’s hit so far.

Our own Jake Shapiro wrote about the difference in DJ this season in this article.

Oddly enough, the Rockpile guys take a “water break” and they comeback to the topic of the lack of leaving runners on base, getting into stats about how the Colorado Rockies look good on paper … though it’s entirely different story on the field. The guys get into some advanced stats and how that looks for the team.

Moving onto the topic of roster changes, they speak on the lack of any really happening. This is probably going to have to change since CarGo is most likely going to be out a few games and Gerardo Parra is getting ready to serve his suspension. They suggest that Raimel Tapia be recalled and have him playing in the outfield.
