More from Rox Pile

I’ll go with my hometown team next, the Atlanta Braves. They are definitely off to an unexpected start, and it’s nice to see. The Braves have had a drama-filled few months with losing prospects to front office executives getting banned and finding a new general manager.

Though now, with that done and over it, appears that the Braves are looking to contend. They did open up their payroll when they traded Matt Kemp and got a surplus of Dodgers. Everyone is currently looking forward to the debut of Ronald Acuna, who is the most prized prospect in 2018. The team is currently 4-2 and in second place. However, the Braves are probably a year or two away from being serious contenders.

Miami Marlins

Since we left Georgia, let’s head down to Florida. The Marlins are a “special” team. With Derek Jeter becoming the CEO of the team, some people expected them to be real contenders. That was until he started traded off the main talent in Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, and Dee Gordon. The only recognizable talent left is first basemen Justin Bour and catcher J.T. Realmuto.

People are calling this a serious tank, which I won’t dispute. It’ll be imperative for them to make extremely good draft picks and build upon their farm system, which is considered, by MLB.com, to still be one of the weakest in baseball . They are currently 2-5 and are most likely going to be worse than they did last season, where they finished 2nd, albeit with a 77-85 record.
