When it comes to which team that fans of the Colorado Rockies are pulling for to win the World Series, it is clear that there is little love for the National League ahead of this year’s installment of the Fall Classic.
We asked Rockies fans on Twitter which of the four remaining playoff teams they would be pulling for to win this year’s World Series. An overwhelming choice (81 percent) said they were cheering for the Houston Astros. Of the other three teams left in the postseason, the Chicago Cubs (8 percent) barely snuck ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers (7 percent) while the New York Yankees came in last at 4 percent.
I asked one Rockies fans on direct message why he said he was cheering for the Astros. While certainly some of it had to do with the team, much of his choice came down to pulling for a city and region that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

“That city needs something good to happen to it after all of the flooding,” he said. “The Astros seemed like a uniting force for the city while Harvey was going on. It would be great to see them win the World Series.”
Another told me that he loved the play of MVP candidate Jose Altuve while another said that he was choosing the Astros because, “they are the lesser of the four evils left.”
After surviving the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series, the Astros jumped out to a 1-0 American League Championship Series lead over the Yankees on Friday night with a 2-1 win in Houston. Dallas Keuchel struck out a season-high 10 to lead the Astros to the victory.

A trade that brought Justin Verlander to the Astros further shored up their rotation in time for the postseason. Could it be a move that helps Houston capture its first-ever World Series? Rockies fans certainly seem to hope so.
