Major League Baseball announces 2017 postseason schedule

As of the end of play on Monday, August 7, the Colorado Rockies are estimated to have an 87 percent chance of making it into postseason play. With that in mind, Colorado fans can potentially start zooming in on some dates on their calendars now.

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced its 2017 postseason dates for both the National League and American League. It begins with the Wild Card round with the Wild Card games slated for Tuesday, October 3 (American League, ESPN) and Wednesday, October 4 (National League, TBS).

Both of the American League Division Series will begin on October 5. Both of the National League Division Series are scheduled to begin on Friday, October 6. Here is how the schedule looks for the NLDS.
Game 1: Friday, October 6, higher seed at home
Game 2: Saturday, October 7, higher seed at home
Game 3: Monday, October 9, lower seed at home
Game 4*: Tuesday, October 10, lower seed at home
Game 5*: Thursday, October 12, higher seed at home

The National League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 14. Here is how the schedule looks for the NLCS:

The World Series will begin on October 24. The team with the overall best record will get home-field advantage in the Fall Classic, a change from previous years when the All-Star Game winning team earned its league World Series home-field advantage.

All National League playoff games will be televised by TBS. Fox and Fox Sports 1 will televise the first two rounds in the American League, with MLB Network showing a pair of games to be determined in the division series.
