The Colorado Rockies and Milwaukee Brewers face each other to open the 2017 season on Monday afternoon in Milwaukee. Here is a short preview plus all the information you need to watch the game.

Expectations are at a Rocky Mountain high for the Rockies heading into this season. Several believe this could be the year that the Rockies finally make it back to the postseason, breaking a dry spell that has lasted since the 2009 campaign.

Of course, to do that will mean that the Rockies must hold their own in what is expected to be a brutal National League West. The divison features the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, both of which were 2016 playoff participants. Additionally, the Arizona Diamondbacks are expected to improve this season as well.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee has not finished above third place in the National League Central since the 2011 season. It will be tough to make much headway this season in a division that includes the World Champion Chicago Cubs and improved St. Louis Cardinals.

Last season, Colorado finished at 75-87. Milwaukee ended the season at 73-89. Suffice to say, it was a disappointing campaign for both clubs.

Since the Brewers moved to the National League in 1998, Colorado has an all-time 70-63 advantage in head-to-head matchups. However, Milwaukee went 5-1 against the Rockies last season, including sweeping a three-game set in Milwaukee in late August. All time, Colorado is just 23-32 at Miller Park since it opened in 2001.

One thing to watch on Monday

Jon Gray’s curveball and slider

When Gray has his slider working, there aren’t many better sliders in Major League Baseball. Gray has also shown a much-improved curveball during spring training. Can he throw both of those pitches over the plate? If so, it could be a long day for Milwaukee batters.
