4. The Rockies will stay healthy the entire season

I already mentioned that the Rockies have struggled with injuries every year.

This year, they have already been impacted by injuries, before the season has even started.

They have lost starting pitcher, Chad Bettis, after he discovered his testicular cancer has spread. He mentioned that he will start chemotherapy and will return when his cancer is gone. Could he return before the end of the season?

The Rockies have also lost newly acquired first baseman Ian Desmond. Desmond broke his hand after being hit by a pitch and will most likely miss the first five weeks of the season.

The Rockies also lost outfielder David Dahl to a stressed rib.

At first, he was only supposed to miss a couple weeks of Spring Training. However, the injury turned out to be more serious than expected, as he will now most likely miss all of April.

Catcher Tom Murphy will also be out four to six weeks due to a stress fracture in his forearm.

The Rockies have struggled with injuries for years.

For example, Carlos Gonzalez has suffered multiple wrist injuries throughout the past seasons.

Last year, Trevor Story suffered a torn ligament in his thumb to end an impressive rookie season and Gerardo Parra suffered a sprained ankle after a collision in the outfield.

There are multiple pitchers who have suffered Tommy John surgery, including Greg Holland who is playing in his first season following the surgery.

Adam Ottavino and Tyler Chatwood both suffered through Tommy John surgery and made their first return from the injury last season.

The injuries that the Rockies have already suffered won’t hurt them, because they have experienced, talented back-ups in place.

Tom Murphy will be replaced by Tony Wolters, who is possibly one of the best defensive catchers in the league.

Mark Reynolds, who started last season at first base, will replace Ian Desmond until he returns.

Parra, who started in left field last year, will take over for David Dahl until he heals.

If injuries occur throughout the year, the Rockies have the depth to minimize the impact it will have on their season.

This year the Rockies will win the World Series, because they will stay healthy for the majority of the season.
