Colorado Rockies Duo Needs Your All-Star Game Votes

It’s getting very close to deadline time if you want to see Trevor Story and/or Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies start for the National League in this year’s All-Star Game.

Both Story and Arenado are having phenomenal seasons, yet they trail their Chicago Cubs counterparts Addison Russell (shortstop) and Kris Bryant (third base) by decent margins heading into the final few days of voting.

Well, Rockies fans, you still have some time to fix that.

With voting scheduled to end on June 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET and fans allowed to vote five times per day, that means that you have just 35 chances left (counting today) to make your voice heard for Story and Arenado. Click here to cast your votes.

In case you’re wondering, here’s why the Colorado Rockies duo is worthy of a starting nod in the Midsummer Classic. Note: Stats are all current heading into Friday’s showdown against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Nolan Arenado

Tied for the Major League and National League lead with 21 homers … is second in the Majors and is first in the Senior Circuit with 61 RBI. Of those 21 homers, he has hit 12 at Coors Field and nine on the road, including five in National League West opponent ballparks.

Ranks first in the National League with 161 total bases.

Since the start of 2015, Arenado’s 191 RBI lead all MLB players by 18, and he has 35 more RBI than anyone in the National League that span. Also, his 63 home runs since the beginning of 2015 are tied for first in MLB with Chris Davis.

His 126 extra-base hits and 515 total bases also lead the Majors since the start of 2015.

Since the beginning of 2015, Arenado has a National League-high 31 home runs on the road, 32 at home. For his career, he has 53 home runs at Coors Field, 38 on the road.

His walk-per-strikeout ratio (0.94) is fourth in the National League.

According to STATS, Arenado ranks first in the National League in WAR at 3.5.

Trevor Story

His 18 home runs are tied for eighth in the Majors and are tied for third in the National League.

The 18 home runs are tied for the fourth-most all-time for a National League rookie prior to the All-Star break, three behind the National League record of 21 set by Dave Kingman in 1972 and Albert Pujols in 2001.

Speaking of rookies, Story (who was named National League Rookie of the Month in April) leads MLB rookies in home runs (18), RBI (48), doubles (17), extra base hits (39), strikeouts (103) and slugging (.544). He also ranks among MLB rookie leaders in runs (3rd-42), hits (3rd-74), triples (T1st-4), multi-hit games (4th-20), walks (2nd-24), average (4th-.263) and on-base percentage (4th-.325).

His 39 extra-base hits are tied for most in the National League.

His 48 RBI are seventh in the National League.

His 3.0 WAR ranks third in the National League.

According to Fangraphs, Story’s 43.7 hard-hit percentage is first in the National League.
