NL West Rumors: Giants Interested In Jon Lester
The NL West could see some big signings this winter. One possibility could be Jon Lester ending up with the San Francisco Giants.
If you’re a fan of the Colorado Rockies and you were happy about the departure of Pablo Sandoval to the Boston Red Sox, your celebration might prove to be short-lived.

By losing out on the opportunity to pay Sandoval $95 million over the next five seasons, the Giants find themselves with money to spend elsewhere in free agency. And according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, one potential target in San Francisco is ace lefty Jon Lester.
According to major league sources, the Cubs are very serious about Lester. The Giants are becoming more serious about him. An elite lefty at Yankee Stadium? The Yankees are contemplating a move but haven’t committed to one.
As far as free agency bidding wars are concerned, the Cubs and Yankees stand to be stiff competition for the Giants. Then again, San Francisco has proven that they have quite the package to sell to free agent starting pitchers. In this case, they can point to their World Series rings, their pitcher-friendly home park, and the chance to pitch with Madison Bumgarner as key selling points for Lester.
Combine those with the fact that the Giants have the money to make a competitive offer, and they could be real players here. If they pull this off, imagine the NL West for the Rockies: travel to Los Angeles, face Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke. Travel to San Francisco, face Madison Bumgarner and Jon Lester.
The teams in the NL West have money to spend this off-season. The idea of the Giants signing Lester is one of the scarier possibilities out there in an already difficult division for our beloved Colorado Rockies.
