Could Wednesday’s game between the Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins at Target Field be affected by weather? It’s very possible, according to weather reports.
As of Wednesday morning, The Weather Channel is predicting thunderstorms to impact Minneapolis for most of Wednesday afternoon and evening. At noon, the chance of thunderstorms sits at 55 percent and only goes up from there. With first pitch scheduled at 7:10 p.m. Central time (6:10 p.m. in Denver), thunderstorm chances are set between 60 and 85 percent. The lowest percentage forecast after that comes at 11 p.m. when chances drop to 45 percent.
The future weather models on Minneapolis NBC station KARE-TV show the Twin Cities covered in rain for most of the afternoon and evening. If that holds true, a rain delay or even postponement of the game seems very likely.
Update at 3:51 p.m. CT: Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post has reported it has started to rain in the Twin Cities.

If impacted, this would be the second consecutive mid-week series that the Rockies have battled the weather. Last week, massive storms in Denver (including large and damaging hail) caused Monday’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Rockies to be postponed. The Rockies and Cubs played a double-header on Tuesday (which the teams split).
With Colorado’s schedule, any postponement tonight would force the teams to play a double-header on Thursday. The Twins and Rockies are scheduled to complete their three-game series at Target Field with a matinee game on Thursday, but Wednesday’s rain could change the schedule.
This is the only time this season the two teams are scheduled to meet. The Rockies begin a three-game set in Cincinnati on Friday while the Twins will welcome the Kansas City Royals to town on Friday.

Colorado started the three-game series in Minnesota on a high note Tuesday note, using home runs from Gerardo Parra and Charlie Blackmon to a 7-3 victory. The win improved Colorado to 12-5 on the road this season.
