Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies keeps racking up awards for his outstanding play in the field.
Colorado’s All-Star third baseman just received his second consecutive Fielding Bible Award for his defensive prowess at the hot corner. You can read about the Fielding Bible and how the award is designated by clicking here.
One thing to note about the award is that there is not an American League winner and National League winner. One player is chosen at each position. Arenado was the overall choice at third base, giving credence to the fact that he is the best in Major League Baseball at his position as I discussed in an earlier article that you can read here.
Here’s what The Fielding Bible had to say about Arenado…
He received all but one of the first place votes at third base for a total of 119 points. He also finished well ahead in Defensive Runs Saved, saving 20 runs for the Rockies, a good margin ahead of the 15 runs saved by Adrian Beltre (Texas) and Kyle Seager (Seattle). Arenado also led all fielders (not just third basemen) recording 71 Good Fielding Plays where he made a play that was not likely to be an out or prevent an advancement with an average play.

Arenado is one of three members of the Colorado Rockies vying to win the 2016 Rawlings Gold Glove award as well. He joins second baseman DJ LeMahieu and right fielder Carlos Gonzalez in the quest. If Arenado is announced as the third base winner on November 8, it will be his fourth consecutive Gold Glove.
