Colorado Rockies: You Can Meet Trevor Story!
The Colorado Rockies announced today the opportunity to meet shortstop Trevor Story on Saturday, August 6 at the Sprint store in Parker, CO – 18260 Lincoln Avenue at a time to be determined.
Here is the announcement on Twitter about the opportunity to meet Trevor Story:
Story is having an incredible rookie season – he is hitting .272, with 27 HRs, 69 RBIs, an OBP of .345 and a slugging percentage of .584. When you throw in his .976 fielding percentage, he is having a great two-way season.
Yesterday Story was honored with the National League Player of the Week award. He hit .478 (four multi-hit games), with six HRs, 12 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of 1.304.
This is Story’s second NL Player of the Week award – he also won it in the first week of the season when he set a new major league record by hitting seven HRs in his first six career games.
Rockies manager Walt Weiss is appreciative of the season performance so far of his rookie shortstop.
“Nobody goes six months in this league without a hiccup,” said manager Walt Weiss via David Adler of MLB.com. “You have to face adversity and battle through it and shorten those times where you’re going to struggle, and he’s been able to do that as a young player. He’s had rough stretches here and there but he never gets derailed. … That says a lot for a young player in this league.”
Story is a very even-keeled person, as I wrote a week ago. He is just about working and grinding and trying to get better.

He just set a new National League record for home runs by a rookie shortstop by hitting his 26th HR last Saturday against the Atlanta Braves, breaking former Rockie Troy Tulowitzki‘s record.
But Story is not getting caught up in the glamour of it.
“After the season, I can look back and enjoy,” Story said after setting the record via Adler. “But right now, I’m in a grind mode — head down, working.”
Story seems like a really good bloke. We all should be supporting him. Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet him on August 6 in Parker!
Who knows, maybe he can give you a sweet deal on a new Sprint phone?!
