Colorado has experienced a change in the rankings of their top 30 prospects, with the most notable player jumping from the mid-teens to No. 4 overall in the system.
Roldy Brito, an 18-year-old second baseman and outfielder switch-hitting hybrid, was named the Rockies' 2025 Doug Million Minor League Player of the Year.
The youngster initially signed with the Rockies organization in 2024 as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic, receiving a $420,000 signing bonus.
He was named the 2025 ACL Most Valuable Player, an ACL Postseason All-Star, and a Baseball America Rookie All-Star, posting a batting line of .371/.444/.516 across both the ACL and Single-A levels.
He performed slightly better while batting right-handed, achieving a 1.129 OPS compared to .927 when batting left-handed.
Brito had an impressive 2025, slashing .368/.445/.555 in 51 games with the ACL Rockies. He recorded 13 doubles, six triples, three home runs, 21 RBIs, and scored 46 runs. He then moved up to Single-A Fresno, where he continued to dominate, hitting .375/.442/.463 In just 33 games, while adding 17 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
In Friday afternoon's 9-4 loss to the Rangers, Brito started in center field and played the entire game.
Brito went 0-for-3 at the plate, with a walk and an RBI groundout in the ninth that drove in Ethan Hedges, bringing the game within five runs.
This was his second appearance in spring training this year, as he went 1-for-2 while replacing Ryan Ritter in Monday's 12-3 loss to the White Sox.
While his expected arrival in the big leagues is around 2028, being that he is just 18 years old, Colorado fans have themselves a prime prospect to keep an eye on over the next few seasons and watch his development.
