UPDATE: Wednesday's game has been postponed. It will be played as part of a doubleheader (traditional) starting at 1:10 PM CST on Thursday.
The Colorado Rockies are off to what can best be described as a challenging start to the 2025 season. At 4-18, the Rockies have the worst record in baseball even being surpassed (barely) by the historically dreadful White Sox. Unfortunately, even Mother Nature seems to be trying to get in the way of Colorado getting back on track.
Going up against the Royals isn't exactly an easy matchup, but they are four games below .500 and seem to be very vulnerable assuming you don't let Bobby Witt Jr. beat you. Sadly, we will have to wait a bit longer to see if the Rockies can get back on track as we are officially in a rain delay.

Rockies vs. Royals Rain Delay: Game status, real-time weather updates
Before the weather rolled in, German Marquez was set to take on the Royals' Michael Lorenzen who is among the more vulnerable of Kansas City's starters. Colorado's lineup doesn't have a ton of experience against Lorenzen, but he is the kind of pitcher that isn't going to blow you away and who you should be able to make regular contact against.
As of this moment, getting this game in could get dicey now that it is delayed. There is a line of storms coming through from the west that looks pretty nasty. If they can't get this game started soon, the forecast does not look promising later in the evening.
We will keep you all updated as this rain delay unfolds and more information becomes available. Based on what we are looking at right now, we might be waiting for a while.
*Update: 7:34 PM MST/9:34 PM EST*
There are a nonzero amount of fans that are understandably perturbed that this game has been delayed as long as it has been without rain actually falling at the park. Clearly there was an attempt to predict the weather ahead of time and keep pitchers from starting the game only for the game to get delayed anyways with the incoming weather.
At this point, it feels increasingly likely that this game could get banged. It isn't going to rain all night, but these are heavy storms coming through and given how much time has already been lost before the rain even shows up, getting this game in could be tough (but not impossible).
⚾️☔️ I’m not saying they can’t play with patience, the rain will indeed clear tonight… but as a general rule Late Starting for rain that is still an hour or more away can cause problems and increases PPD threat.
