Colorado Rockies podcast: Reaction to Bill Schmidt hiring, Trevor Story on free agency, offseason
The Colorado Rockies are currently taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona and Rox Pile’s Kevin Henry is with the team on their final voyage of the 2021 campaign.
On Saturday, the Rockies announced that they removed the “interim” tag from general manager Bill Schmidt.
But you can read into a few things that came out of Saturday’s news from the Colorado Rockies
On this episode of the Rox Pile Rockies Report podcast, we dive into some of the things that you can read into regarding the news from the Colorado Rockies.
Rockies President Greg Feasel and Bill Schmidt spoke with the media, including Rox Pile, before Saturday’s game and we discuss some of their comments and some of the comments that were taken a bit out of context. We will have more on their comments in the coming days on the site.
We also take a look at what the Rockies have done well in recent months and what they have not done well or not done well in, at least at this point.
One of the things that they have done well is identifying problems with their team, as manager Bud Black and Bill Schmidt have said this week that they both believe that the Rockies need some bullpen help and some more power in their offense. However, will they actually address those issues this offseason? Additionally, will they be able to re-sign Trevor Story, C.J. Cron, and Jon Gray? If not, the Rockies will have their work cut out for them to build a contending baseball team.
Kevin also caught up with Trevor Story on Sunday so you can hear a bit from him on what he will be looking for in a team this offseason as well as who he will be talking with to help him make his decision this offseason.
