On this episode of the Rox Pile Rockies Report, my co-expert Kevin Henry and I discuss a potpourri of musings with the Colorado Rockies.

We discuss the start of the series with the Mets and the Rockies third win of the season on the road. Their road trip to face the Mets and Pirates is the first time that the Rockies have played in the Eastern Time Zone since July 28, 2019, when they faced Cincinnati.

On Monday, Austin Gomber turned in the longest start of his major league career as he pitched into the 9th inning. Carlos Estevez locked down the game for the Rockies and we discuss how successful he has been lately.

We also discuss Luke Mullins’ recent article for us and how it is a bit baffling that it’s the case.

You can also hear Rockies manager Bud Black, in his own words, about how the Rockies are trying to combat the “Coors Field hangover.” Black has shut down talk about it before but after Monday’s game, he told the media that the Rockies are trying to combat it.

More from Colorado Rockies Podcast

We talk with Dugan Darnell, a Rockies prospect playing for the Fresno Grizzlies.

You can get to hear his story about how if the Rockies didn’t sign him this offseason, he was going to be out of baseball.

Kevin and I also discuss some of our thoughts on the rotation and bullpen and some moves that could be coming soon there as well some other injury updates as well.

After Monday’s game, the Rockies optioned left-handed reliever Lucas Gilbreath back to the minor leagues with Kyle Freeland expected to be activated to make the start on Tuesday so we discuss the Rockies bullpen without having a left-hander.

We then preview the Rockies upcoming schedule, including an old friend that may (or may not) be back in Coors Field soon.
