More from Rox Pile

The Diamondbacks bullpen, while hot of late since the D’Backs have had their winning streak, did not have a good month of August. They had an ERA of 5.09 in the month. D’Backs closer Fernando Rodney is often a high-wire act. Since August 12, he has an ERA of 4.50.

Former Rockie starter Jorge De La Rosa has been a reliever for the D’Backs all season and this past month, he had some interesting numbers. He only allowed six hits in 8 1/3 innings but he allowed five runs and allowed five walks in that span. So, he had an ERA of 5.40 in the month but batters only hit .194 off him.

The Rockies will almost definitely be facing D’Backs reliever Archie Bradley. In the month of August, he went 12 2/3 innings and he only allowed nine hits and one run for an ERA of 0.71. On the season, his ERA is only 1.34 in 51 appearances.

Final Thoughts

The Diamondbacks will obviously give the Rockies a run for their money and the Rockies have not played well as of late. The Rockies must take at least two of three in this series to make a dent in the wildcard race.

If they lose two or get swept, it could be a double-edged sword. If they get swept and Milwaukee sweeps the Nationals (they already won their game last night with them), the Rockies will be on the outside looking in as Milwaukee will have overtaken them.
