Weekly Link Round-Up

This week’s round-up combines the usual deal (good reads from around the web) with my weekly recap of all things Rox Pile. So it’s like two awesome things in one place! Enjoy
- I recapped the Rockies’ opening day win over the Astros and wondered what it might be like if everyone on the team did his job every single day.
- Hayden gave us the lineup card for last Saturday’s game with the Astros and commented on the possibility that Jamie Moyer might become the oldest starting pitcher to win a major league game … which of course, he did not.
- Kevin O’Brien of Seedlings to Stars published a piece on Latin pitching prospects in the National League West, among them the Rockies’ own Edwar Cabrera (who earns a B+).
- David Schoenfield thinks the Indians can rest easy on the whole Ubaldo situation. Since he’s always right, they should absolutely have no trouble sleeping at night.
- I recapped the Rockies’ unfortunate loss to the Astros and some guy named Lucas Harrell last Saturday.
- Rockies Review’s David Martin criticized Jim Tracy’s Sunday lineups, which are fast reaching legendary status.
- I recapped the Rockies’ loss to the Astros last Sunday and lamented how unfair it was that the brilliant Juan Nicasio didn’t get a win.
- Curtis gave us the lineup card for the Rockies’ home opener against the Giants.
- Hayden instructed the Rockies on what they needed to do in light of their opening series lost to the Astros: get mad, and go the other way.
- I recapped the Rockies’ home opener loss to the Giants, in which everything was terrible.
- Andrew Fisher compared the home opener to a bad first date, and I can confirm that I’ve had first dates that were almost as painful as this game.
- Mark Townsend reported on Jeremy Guthrie’s game of catch with a fan he found on Twitter. Pretty awesome.
- Hayden bravely took on a task I am entirely unwilling to: understanding the Sunday lineup. You know, The Sunday Lineup.
- Purple Row’s Jeff Aberle is always telling me to calm down, and you know what? I always do.
- Joe Soriano of Call to the Pen reviewed the NL West’s offseason, and gave everybody a worse grade than the Rockies, except the Padres.
- Curtis reported on the Rockies’ signing of Brian Anderson to a minor-league deal.
- Hayden made a quality case for the notion that Jeremy Guthrie is good and Tim Lincecum is, in fact, thoroughly evil.
- Curtis gave up the lineup card for the Rockies’ second game against the Giants on Wednesday.
- Any mention of the Blake Street Bombers on a website is going to get a second look from me. Written by Bryan Kilpatrick? Looking yet again.
- If you care about these things, here are the Rockies’ walk-up songs for 2012. This list just makes me miss Seth Smith more than I already do.
- Patrick Saunders listed out all the records the Rockies broke in their massive win over the Giants last Wednesday.
- And I recapped that win a little more thoroughly.
- Curtis gave us the lineup card for Thursday’s rubber game against the Giants.
- Troy Renck wrote about Guillermo Moscoso’s troubles in Colorado Springs. What’s the worst case scenario on him? I’ll tell you: no matter where he is, Seth Smith is still in Oakland.
- I recapped the Rockies’ loss to the Giants Thursday, and the continued failure of Jamie Moyer’s quest to be the oldest guy to keep from falling down dead on a pitcher’s mound, or something.
- Purple Row’s Andrew Martin fretted about the Rockies’ defense so far this season, a worry I am beginning to think is legitimately warranted.
- Some unwritten, but basic, rules the Rockies should seriously consider following, courtesy of Fangraphs’ David Cameron.
- I published the lineup card for the Rockies’ first 2012 game against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
