The Colorado Rockies had a chance to win their first series of 2025. New York Yankee’s star Aaron Judge had other ideas.

Judge had two hits and the go-ahead double as the Yankees outlasted the Rockies 5-4, including a 2-hour rain delay Sunday at Coors Field.

Colorado led 2-1 early as Jordan Beck and Ezequiel Tovar reached and scored, but in the fifth inning, Judge doubled to score Paul Goldschmidt, and the Yankees never trailed again, despite Mickey Moniak’s ninth-inning homerun as the Yankees took 2-of-3 in just their third ever visit to Denver.

The Rockies meanwhile, dropped to an MLB worst 9-44 with six of those wins coming at home. Beck led the Rockies with two hits and Brenton Doyle had a double as Colorado had eight hits after scoring just one run on Saturday. Despite four strikeouts, Antonio Senzatela took the loss as New York had nine hits.

The Rockies will have little time to rest as they head East for a three-game set at Wrigley Field. Carson Palmquist will get his third start of the season when the Rockies meet the first-place Cubs at 12:10 p.m. M.D.T. Colorado will send out German Marquez Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. and the series wraps up Wednesday when Tanner Gordon starts for Colorado at 6:05 p.m. as well. The Rockies then have an off day before a three-game set in New York against the Mets this coming weekend.

Here’s three takeaways from Colorado’s weekend with the Yankees

  • Beck keeps hitting

With two more hits on Sunday, Jordan Beck remained red-hot. Against the Yankees he had five hits and a couple of runs scored, as his average is now a team-best .285 with 42 hits and eight homers. Beck also made several outstanding catches over the weekend.

  • Judge was right at home

In his first official series at Coors Field, Aaron Judge wanted little time in acclimating. He hit two homers and had two more hits on Sunday as he certainly seemed to enjoy his time in the Mile High City.

  • Yankee Stadium East?

It’s no secret that Coors Field can be pretty friendly to visiting teams. But Friday night and Saturday, it seemed like full home games for the Yankees. Coors was littered with white pinstripe Yankees jerseys and chants of “Lets Go Yankees” echoed through Denver for three days. It was only the Yankee’s third visit to Denver, and it seems there’s more Yankee’s fans then ever in Colorado now.
