The Colorado Rockies are locked in one of the worst slumps they’ve been in a long time. And that offensive slump, combined with shaky pitching, has led to a six straight losses.

To say things haven’t been good would be putting it mildly.

Now, the Rockies are hoping a return to Coors Field will be the cure for a 3-15 start to the 2025 Major League Season. The Rockies are home for a scheduled three games at Coors Field, though there weather is likely going to force a Sunday doubleheader, as a snowstorm blues through the area on Thursday night and Friday.

Friday’s game is scheduled to feature Chase Dollander in this third career start, and Colorado is expected to don their new City Connect uniforms. That game however is likely to be cancelled, which will alter the pitching rotation for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday’s game against the Nationals will start at 1:10 p.m. M.D.T. and Sunday’s game is scheduled for 1:10 p./m. But could sendup being two seven-inning games to make up for Friday’s likely cancellation. Kyle Freeland,  and Antonio Senzatela are also slated to start on the brief, three-game home stand.

The Nationals will come to Denver having lost five out of their last six games, and they bring a 7-12 record into their only matchup with the Rockies this season.

During the short home series, the Rockies will look to rebound from a devastating west coast trip in which they were shut out by the Padres three times and swept by the Dodgers. The Rockies are currently hitting just .217 as a team, and have just 10 homers on the entire season. Colorado’s pitching hasn’t done much better. The Rockies’ team ERA is currently 5.09, and they lead the league in blown wins so far this year.

Yes, Colorado needs to turn things around, and Bud Black’s team needs to do it in a hurry, as the Rockies head right back on the road for games at Kansas City to start next week.
