Three young Rockies who have answered the call and a couple who haven't

The Colorado Rockies have a lot of young talent. Are they all at the Major League level? No. But, that doesn’t mean the Rockies don’t have really solid young players on their roster.

Of course, mired in one of the worse seasons in Major League Baseball history thus far, it’s really hard to see how the young talent is performing, because, at times, it feels like no one is really stepping up.

That’s really not the case though, and the Rockies have plenty of young players who have really stepped up so far in 2025, and a couple who haven’t.

Hunter Goodman

At Age 25, Goodman is having a breakout campaign, and he shows no signs of slowing down. He made the Rockies’ roster from day one, and has never looked back as he’s hit seven homers, driven in 29 runs and is batting .292 all while playing three different positions, and being the Rockies’ everyday catcher.

Jordan Beck

What a crazy start to the season for Beck. It’s his second year in the bigs, and ultimately, he was even demoted for a couple of weeks. Since then though, Beck has had a 10-game hitting streak, has smashed a team-high eight homers, and has eight stolen bases while hitting .294. Beck has showed everybody that he belong not only in the bigs, but as one of Colorado’s top players.

Chase Dollander

This one is a no-brainer, and though he’s lost several games this season, Dollander has done what he’s been asked to do, and that’s be Colorado’s star pitcher, now, and in the future. Dollander has two wins and an ERA of 5.65 all while striking out 38. Yes, he’s been roughed up, too, but, that’s going to happen to 23-year-old pitchers who have only been in professional baseball for less then three years. In other words, Dollander has delivered.

Adeal Amador

Maybe this isn’t fair because he’s only 22 years old, and he’s played mostly out of necessity, but, Amador has really struggled since being called up. His talent is undeniable, but, is he ready to play in the bigs full time? Amador is hitting just .122 with 10 hits and one homer, and while his glove is really good, he hasn’t hit like the Rockies know he’s capable of.

Angel Chivilli

Like Amador, Chivilli is just 22 years old, and while he’s shown flashes of brilliance, the Rockies bullpen needs more. He’s pitched 19 innings and has an ERA of over five, and while he is a flame thrower, the Rockies haven’t gone to him much, and it appears, they don’t really trust him in the late innings, at least not yet.
